Greetings!

I’ve recently begun a new chapter in my life, and this is some music I’ve made in the meantime. These songs are a change of pace from the dark undertones in my previous releases. No coincidence, this is a result of changing my day to day.
I’m now surrounded by beautiful wildlife and stunning vegetation. Every corner I turn I seem to run into some dinosaur, shocked to see they’re still up and kicking in the form of Iguanas, Macaws, and other crazy things.

I spend most of my time at university these days, building Reaktor 6 synthesizers and patches in my free time. The modular environment of blocks certainly does not replace working on actual modular gear, but it’s still amazing to use. Reaktor patches were used here to mainly build drums, do a lot of the effects, and play monophonic voices. I’ve also enjoyed using Vital for the polyphonic voices in these tracks. These two engines lend themselves to the craziest sound design.

The theme for this release was using algorithms to construct audio. This included using pseudo-random sequences based on running elements of a shift register through logic gates into a quantizer to play notes, modulating an effect parameter with a sine wave whose frequency is a function of what time of day it is, and many other crazy shenanigans the modular world lends itself to. Every time I would play these songs back during creation, I got a new set of tones, and even this final render was just one generation out of thousands of cycles. I love the generative aspect of making music, and I had never really tried to do that using software exclusively.
